The Kovacs are home!!!

Shawnda, Jeremiah and Kim made it home last night from Uganda!!!! I posted about them a few weeks ago and asked you to help them bring their little boy home through purchasing photos.

God has been super kind and He has given Shawnda and Jason another blessing!! Please pray for the transitions for their family. Jeremiah has lived in a babies home for the past several months and now he is in his forever home with his new brothers and sisters-Samuel, Keziah, Karis and Micah!!!!

Check out their family blog here to learn more about their amazing journey!

Supposedly, Congress will be voting very soon on Obama's healthcare plan. Friends, PLEASE PRAY!! Did you know that Congress won't have the same healthcare plan that they are going to give you??? Oh no, they have a MUCH better one! And they have a much better retirement too.

Do some research, I hope to post some links soon. See for yourself what is going on.

Pass the word and pray!

Yes, the Lord is on control, thankfully! I think he's ready for His people to take a stand.

Are you following what's going on with Obama's healthcare plan??? If not, please start now. It is very serious and the only way to change things is to speak up.

Did you know that part of his plan is to have you paying for abortions? Yep, insurance will cover them and Doctors will be forced to perform them.
Did you know that he wants seniors to be counseled on euthanasia??? Yep, crazy huh!

Please read up on what the man is trying to get passed through under our noses. We have to wake up!

Click on this button and go read....

And here is an article that Ben Stein wrote about Obama.....
It's not coming through in it's entirety with my blog design, half of it is cut off and I don't know how to fix it. but if you click on the link at the bottom of the article, you can scroll down to Friday and it is the first article there.

Please help us get this information into the hands of as many people as possible by forwarding it to your entire e-mail list of family and friends.

Why President Obama is in a hurry to get health care passed

July 27, 2009

Dear Lindsay,

I thought you would be interested in the article by Ben Stein printed below. As Mr. Stein says, our freedoms are on the line. Call your Representative today and tell him or her that you oppose the Obama health care bill.

The House will be voting on this bill probably early this week. So your call now is very important. The number is 202-224-3121. That is the Capitol Switchboard. Ask to speak with your Representative and you will be put through. If you don't know your Representative, give your Zip Code and they will connect you.

We've Figured Him Out

Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed?

Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books. They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student. They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms.

There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America.

Friends, this man is not for us!! We only have ourselves to blame if we do not speak up and fight for what is right.

Please sign the petition to Obama and send the email to our representatives.

More, happier emails coming soon, hopefully:)

I heard on the radio a few months ago this quote, "The church, (obviously the people in it) is God's human rights group" Amen and Amen!!! Who is going to take a stand if we don't? The people who don't honor God and don't value life.

I Aim to Please!

Okay girlfriends,
For those of you who are interested in the earthboxes, here's what you do....

First, look at the earthbox website. Read about how to use them and what to do with all the plants, like how many you can fit into each box, etc...

Then, go to the homemade ones and learn how to make it much cheaper! This guy does a great job walking you through it step by step with pictures.

Now I have to be honest, this is quite an investment. It's not cheap to do these, but it's well worth it in the long run. You can use the boxes for three growing seasons before you have to replace the soil. You have to replace the fertilizer every time you plant something new in it. But it only takes a small strip of fertilizer. (You will read more about stuff like this on the earthbox website.) But of course, you have the boxes themselves until they break.

The yield is super high! So don't plant too much. We have been astounded at what these little boxes put out. I would venture to say, about 4 times as much as a conventional garden. So although you can fit 4 squash plants into one box, I would only put two in. They get so huge and it is overwhelming.
If you do tomatoes, make sure you stake them well from the beginning and only put one per box. Again, they get really huge and unruly. I think we have 2 to a box and it's just too much.
We have found that the secret to cantaloupe is to get them off the ground. They are a vine growing plant so get the fruit up off the ground so it doesn't rot before it has time to grow and ripen. We set a few of them just on top of the earthbox and I just set one on top of a planter yesterday that I found in my shed.

As far as watering, you are only supposed to have to do it once a week. We needed to water about every other day at first to get the plants going and then it slowed down for a while. Lately, it's been so dry that we've needed to water certain plants daily and others not very often. So you just have to watch them and see what they need. Peppers do not need to be watered often, it will kill them. They were looking really pitiful and we figured out they were just saturated. Once we got some of that water off, they flourished. The tomatoes are requiring lots of water these days.

So there you go. Let me know if you have any questions. If you want to do some this year, you can start fall crops in August!

Happy Gardening!!

It's Official....

I am a minivan mom!

The Jeep was going to be quite a squeeze with three car seats, so we were able to get this van.  It's an 04 Honda Odyssey.
We are lovin it already.  The girls really dig the sliding doors:)  I'm scared they're going to break them!  Gracie said, "Mom, we can fit four more people in here!"

God has been kind to us and we are so grateful for this provision.

Tracie and I can say we highly recommend earthboxes for gardening!!

We have had such a plentiful harvest!  The yield is crazy with these things!  I have never gotten so much out of a traditional garden.  We are still getting a few squash, zucchini, and cucumbers but we probably picked close to 100 of these.  And no, I am not kidding.  Tracie joked that her skin is turning green:)  We've had enough zucchini to make us sick.  Well, not really sick, but you do get sick of eating it.

This is okra.  I've tried and tried to grow okra in the past.  In these things, no problem!  The stalks on these bad boys are huge.  They started out as these pitiful little plants.  We didn't even think they would survive.
These are peppers.  There's red and purple ones and jalapenos too.
Cantaloupe!!!  They are almost ready!  Everytime I have tried to grow these in a traditional garden they end up rotting before they are big and ripe.  We'll probably be able to eat these this week!
We have literally hundreds of tomatoes growing and ripening as we speak.  This is what I picked yesterday!  The green one was lying on the ground but I couldn't just leave it.  So we'll see if it will ripen.

We are looking forward to planting fall crops and seeing what they do.

Sparklers and Crabs

While we were at the beach the girls caught their first fish!

Erik, Dad, and Uncle Chris worked really hard helping them fish:)  They caught about 12 total!
